Basic workflow of technician for Windows:

  1. When you get a new order, please check the important information of the order first, such as: Distributor, production date, UPC, Quantity, Windows 7/10/pro/home, MODEL, CPU, RAM, Hard disk, DVD/RW, webcam, bluetooth, fingerprint, touchscreen etc..
  2. Get the relevant parts according to the order, such as: Hard disk, RAM, Battery, (Added in 202204) AC adapter, pay attention to check the UPC of the order.
  3. Check the model, CPU, and appearance of the laptop before preparing to assemble, such as: HP EliteBook 840 G2, i5-5300U, A, B, C, D cover, four sides, LCD, etc..
  4. When assembling the parts required by the order into the laptop, pay attention to special requirements, such as: touchscreen, webcam, DVDRW, etc. It is recommended to assemble 10-12 machines at a time, and check whether the WIFI card, CMOS battery, keyboard, etc. are connected normally. Be careful to use the correct screws, if there are no original screws, try the shorter and thinner screws first.   5. Plug in the correct AC adapter to the laptop, turn on and enter BIOS Setup, then configure the BIOS. It is recommended to turn on 8 machines at a time. Pay attention to all warning messages when the laptop boot-up. For details of BIOS settings, please refer to BIOS Settings.
  6. After entering Windows normally, the BIOS will be upgraded automatically. If there is no automatic upgrade, please upgrade manually.
  7. Open System Infomation, check "OS name", Model, CPU, "BIOS Version/Date", RAM and other information.
  8. Open Device Manager and check whether all drivers have been installed. Note that in the Display adapters section, if you see "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", you must update the correct official driver.
  9. If you are testing the first three machines of this order, you have to do the following steps:
    1. Open Disk Management, check whether the Hard disk size and partition are normal, and whether there is an unallocated partition.
    2. Open Display settings, check whether there is “Rotation lock”, if yes, set it to On.
    3. Open File Explorer, go to the “C:” drive, and check whether there is a “Windows.old” folder.
    4. Note: If you find the above situation, please contact your leader as soon as possible to deal with it.
  10. Click the network icon on the taskbar to check whether the WIFI function is turned on, whether the WIFI signal is normal, and whether the operating system date is correct.
  11. Connect the network cable to ensure that the network is normal, insert the DVD disc, the technician USB flash disk for testing and the temporary USB flash disk for storing FFKI and BIT files, and test that all the USB ports can work normally.
  12. Open File Explorer, check the capacity of the "C:" drive, check whether the drive letter sequence of the Optical drive is in front of the USB flash disks, if your order requires RW, make sure the optical drive is RW, and you also have to ensure that the optical drive can work normally. Whether the optical drive can correctly display the disc title.
  13. Open the technician USB flash disk for testing, and click the “MDOSBIT” script to open a series of testing tools for testing.
  14. Use the "Product Key Menu" script to select the appropriate test options and the way to activate the operating system.
    1. First check whether the "TECH ID" is correct, whether the "PRODUCT KEY" shows a set of 5X5 digital KEY, and whether the model displayed in "MANUFACTURER" is consistent with the order.
    2. If a KEY is displayed in the "PRODUCT KEY" section, select the "0" option, which will run BurnIn Test, generate FFKI and BIT files, and activate the operating system with the KEY that comes with the laptop.
    3. If the "PRODUCT KEY" section is blank and the operating system version is Pro, select the "3" option, this option will run BurnIn Test, generate FFKI and BIT files, and automatically input a Pro Key to activate the operating system by using the Product Key Entry Activation mode.
    4. If the "PRODUCT KEY" section is blank and the operating system version is Home, select the "4" option, this option will run BurnIn Test, generate FFKI and BIT files, and automatically input a Home Key to activate the operating system by using the Product Key Entry Activation mode.
    5. If the FFKI file is wrong or fails to be generated or the temporary USB flash disk for storing FFKI files is lost, and you want to regenerate the FFKI file, select the "5" option, this option will delete the FFKI and BIT files and then run BurnIn Test and regenerate FFKI and BIT files. You cannot select this option if the option "2" was previously selected and a Digital MAR was installed.
    6. If the BIT file is wrong or fails to be generated or the temporary USB flash disk for storing BIT files is lost, and you want to regenerate the BIT files, select the "6" option, this option will delete the BIT related files and then run BurnIn Test and regenerate the BIT related files.
    7. If it is a special order requirement or MC sample, select the "2" option, this option will run BurnIn Test and generate FFKI and BIT files, and inject the Digital MAR into the firmware of the laptop and then generate the hardware associations by OA3TOOL. If you select the "2" option by mistake and installed a Digital MAR, please stop all actions on this laptop, record the installed Digital MAR and contact your leader as soon as possible.
  15. Use the BatteryInfoView program to check the battery information. The value of "Current Capacity" should be greater than 50%, the value of "Battery Wear Level" should be greater than 70%. If it is an FBA order, the value of external battery should be greater than 80%, and the value of "Charge/Discharge rate" should be a non-zero value when the battery is not fully charged, and then unplug the AC adapter, Wait until the value of "Charge/Discharge rate" becomes negative numbers and then close the BatteryInfoView program.
  16. Test touchscreen, touchpad, left and right keys, TrackPoint, sounds and screen brightness function keys, etc., use the KeyboardTest program to test the keyboard, and ensure that each key can work normally, In particular, pay attention to the string keys and insensitive keys. If there is any issues with the keyboard, please replace the keyboard and test again. If you pass the keyboard test, exit the test program.
  17. If there is a webcam, test it with the Webcam Test program, if not, skip this step automatically, but make sure that the order does not require a webcam. If the webcam doesn't work, stop the test.
  18. If there is a webcam, use the Microphone Test program to test the Microphone, first click the "Record" button to record, and then click the "Play" button to play the audio file to test. Before playing the audio file, please ensure that the laptop sound function is normal. If the Microphone does not work, stop the test. No need to test Microphone or no Microphone is allowed if there is no webcam and there are no related requirements for the order.
  19. Next, the BurnIn Test program will automatically test the CPU, RAM, Disk, Graphics, Network, Temperature, Sound, etc. At this time, the audio file will be played to test the left and right sound channel. Pay attention to no sound, crackling or popping sound, etc. If all the tests pass, it will automatically Exit the test program and go to the next step. If the test fails, click the "list view" icon in the upper right corner of the BurnIn Test program Dashboard interface to view the failed items and descriptions. If it is an allowable error, such as no webcam and no related requirements for the order, you can manually exit the BurnIn Test program and go to the next step. If it is an error that is not allowed, please try to fix the error first and then test again.
  20. The operating system will be activated automatically according to the method selected in the "Product Key Menu" script.
    1. If you select option "0" before, after the OS is activated successfully, there will be a pop-up window of "Windows Script Host" showing "XXXXXXXXX...Product activated successfully.".
    2. If you select option "3" or "4" before, after the OS is activated successfully, the "Activation" section in the Activation settings will display "Windows is activated with a digital license".
    3. If you select option "2" before, after successful installation of the Digital MAR, there will be a pop-up window of "Windows Script Host" showing "Installed product key xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx successfully.". Then open Command Prompt and type "slmgr /ato" to activate the operating system. If any error message appears when installing Digital MAR, please stop all actions on this laptop and contact your leader as soon as possible.
    4. If the OS activation fails, please check whether the date of the operating system is correct. If it is not correct, please adjust the date first, and then click the "Troubleshoot" option in the Activation settings to try to activate. If the activation still fails, please record the error codes when the activation fails and ask the leader for help.
  21. After all tests have passed and the operating system has been activated,
    (Added in 202204) open the IQC script to test again. If the test passes, click OK, and then IQC asks whether you want to shutdown, and input "Y" to shutdown. If the test fails, please fix the error according to the error prompt first, and run the IQC again until the test passes.
    (Cancelled in 202204) open the "System Preparation Tool" to shutdown the laptop, select "Enter System Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE)" for the "System Cleanup Action" option, do not select the "Generalize" option, and select "Shutdown" for the "Shutdown Options" Option.
  22. Turn on the laptop again and enter the OOBE mode, open the second boot "2ndboot" script to check the Sound, Device Manager, Activation and other information again and then shutdown.
  23. Unplug the AC adapter, network cable, the technician USB flash disk, etc., keep the temporary USB flash disk for scanning. the completed laptop and (Added in 202204) supporting AC adapter are waiting for scanning, cleaning, packaging and shipping.

  5. 将正确的电源适配器连接笔记本电脑,开机并进入BIOS,然后设置BIOS。建议一次打开8台机器,开机时要注意所有的警告信息,详细的BIOS设置流程请查阅BIOS Setting
  6. 正常进入 Windows 后,将自动升级BIOS,没有自动升级的,请手动升级。
  7. 打开 System Infomation,检查 “OS name”, Model, CPU, "BIOS Version/Date", RAM 等信息。
  8. 打开 Device Manager, 检查是否已全部安装驱动,注意在 Display adapters 部分,如果看见是 "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", 则必须更新正确的官方驱动。
  9. 如果你正在做测试的是这个订单的前三台机器,则增加执行以下流程:
    1. 打开 Disk Management,检查硬盘大小及分区是否正常,是否有 unallocated 分区。
    2. 打开 Display settings, 检查是否有 “Rotation lock”,如果有,是否已经设置为 On。

  10. 点击 taskbar 上的网络图标,检查是否有打开 WIFI 功能,WIFI 信号是否正常,检查操作系统日期是否正确。
  11. 连接网线,确保网络正常运作,插入 DVD 光盘、技术员测试U盘和存储FFKI,BIT文件的临时U盘,并测试所有的USB端口能正常运作。
  12. 打开 File Explorer, 检查 “C:” 盘显示的容量,检查光驱盘符顺序是否在U盘前面,如果你的订单要求是RW,光驱是否是RW,光驱是否能读取光盘,光驱是否能正确显示光盘标题。
  13. 打开技术员测试U盘,点击 “MDOSBIT” 脚本启动一系列测试软件进行测试。
  14. 使用 Product key menu 脚本选择相应的测试选项及激活操作系统的方式。
    1. 先检查 “TECH ID” 是否正确,"PRODUCT KEY" 是否显示有一组5X5的数码序列号KEY,“MANUFACTURER” 显示的型号是否与订单一致。
    2. 如果 "PRODUCT KEY" 显示有KEY,则选择“0”选项,此选项将运行 BurnIn Test 并写入 FFKI 和 BIT 文件以及使用机器自带的 KEY 激活操作系统。
    3. 如果 "PRODUCT KEY" 显示空白,操作系统版本是Pro版本,则选择"3"选项,此选项将运行 BurnIn Test 并写入 FFKI 和 BIT 文件以及使用 Product Key Entry Activation 方式自动输入一个 Pro 版本的 KEY 激活操作系统。
    4. 如果 "PRODUCT KEY" 显示空白,操作系统版本是Home版本,则选择"4"选项,此选项将运行 BurnIn Test 并写入 FFKI 和 BIT 文件以及使用 Product Key Entry Activation 方式自动输入一个 Home 版本的 KEY 激活操作系统。
    5. 如果 FFKI 文件错误或写入失败或者临时存储 FFKI 文件的U盘遗失,想重新产生 FFKI 文件,则选择"5"选项,此选项将删除 FFKI 和 BIT 等文件后再运行 BurnIn Test 并重新写入 FFKI 和 BIT 文件。如果之前选择过选项"2"并安装了 Digital MAR,禁止选择此选项。
    6. 如果 BIT 文件错误或写入失败或者临时存储 BIT 文件的U盘遗失,想重新产生 BIT 文件,则选择"6"选项,此选项将删除 BIT 相关文件后再运行 BurnIn Test 并重新写入 BIT 相关文件。
    7. 如果是订单特殊要求或者是MC sample,则选择"2"选项,此选项将运行 BurnIn Test 并写入 FFKI 和 BIT 文件以及使用 OA3TOOL 方式将 Digital MAR 注入笔记本电脑的固件,然后生成硬件关联。如果是因为失误选择了“2”选项并安装了 Digital MAR,请停止此电脑的所有动作,记录下安装的 Digital MAR 并第一时间联系你的 leader。
  15. 使用 BatteryInfoView 程序检查电池信息,“Current Capacity” 的值需大于50%,“Battery Wear Level” 的值需大于70%,如果是FBA的订单,外置电池的值需大于80%,“Charge/Discharge Rate” 的值在电池未充满的情况下需为非0值,然后拔出电源适配器,等待 “Charge/Discharge Rate” 的值变为负数后关闭 BatteryInfoView 程序。
  16. 测试 touchscreen 、touchpad 、左右按键、TrackPoint、其他声音及屏幕亮度 function key 等、,使用 KeyboardTest 程序测试键盘,并保证每一个按键能正常工作,特别需要留意按键串键及按键不灵敏的情况。如果发现键盘有问题,请更换键盘后重新测试,如果通过键盘测试,则退出测试程序。
  17. 如果有 webcam , 则使用 Webcam test 程序测试,如果没有,则自动跳过此步骤,但要确保订单不需要 webcam。如果 webcam 不工作,则停止测试。
  18. 如果有 webcam ,则使用 Microphone test 程序测试 Microphone ,先点击 “Record” 按键录音,再点击 "Play" 按键播放测试,播放测试前请确保电脑声音播放功能正常。如果 Microphone 不工作,则停止测试。如果没有 webcam 且订单无相关要求,则可以不测试 Microphone 或者无 Microphone。
  19. 接下来 BurnIn Test 程序将自动测试 CPU, RAM, Disk, Graphics, Network, Temperature, Sound 等,这时会播放声音测试左右声道,需留意无声音,爆音等情况,如果全部通过,则自动退出测试程序进入下一环节,如果测试不通过,则点击 BurnIn Test 程序 Dashboard 界面右上角的 "list view" 图标查看不通过的项目及说明,如果是允许的错误,例如无 webcam 且订单无相关要求,则可以手动退出 BurnIn Test 程序并进入下一环节,如果是不允许的错误,请先尝试修复错误后再次测试。
  20. 将自动按 Product key menu 脚本中选择的方式激活操作系统。
    1. 如果之前选择选项“0”,激活成功后,会有一个 “Windows Script Host” 的弹窗显示 "XXXXXXXXX...Product activated successfully." 。
    2. 如果之前选择选项“3”或者“4”,激活成功后,在 Activation settings 里的 “Activation” 项将显示 “Windows is activated with a digital license” 。
    3. 如果之前选择选项“2”,成功安装 Digital MAR 后,会有一个 “Windows Script Host” 的弹窗显示 “Installed product key xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx successfully." 。打开 Command Prompt ,输入 ”slmgr /ato" 激活操作系统。如果安装 Digital MAR 出现错误信息,请停止此电脑的所有动作,并第一时间联系你的 leader。

  21. 所有测试通过并成功激活操作系统后,
    (202204 添加) 打开 IQC 脚本再次测试,如果测试通过,点击确定,然后 IQC 询问是否关机,输入 "Y" 关机,如果测试失败,请先根据错误提示修复错误,再次运行 IQC, 直到测试通过。
    (202204 取消) 打开 System Preparation Tool 程序关闭电脑,System Cleanup Action 选项选择 ”Enter System Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE)“, 不选择 "Generalize" 选项,Shutdown Options 选项选择 ”Shutdown" 。
  22. 再次开机并进入 OOBE 模式,打开二次开机 2ndboot 脚本再次检查 Sound、Device Manager、Activation等信息后关机。
  23. 拔除电源适配器、网线、技术员测试U盘等,保留FFKI,BIT文件临时存储U盘用于扫描出货入档,机器和(202204增加)配套电源适配器等待扫描、清洁及包装出货。

Basic workflow of technician for ChromeOS:

  1. When you get a new order, please check the important information of the order first, such as: Distributor, production date, UPC, Quantity, MODEL, CPU, RAM, Hard disk, webcam, bluetooth, fingerprint, touchscreen etc..
  2. Get the relevant parts according to the order, such as: Battery, pay attention to check the UPC of the order.
  3. Check the model, CPU, and appearance of the chromebook before testing, such as: Lenovo N22 Chromebook, Intel Celeron (N3050), A, B, C, D cover, four sides, LCD, etc..
  4. Plug in the correct AC adapter to the chromebook, open the lid and it will automatically turn on. It is recommended to turn on 8 machines at a time.
  5. After entering the Welcome Screen normally, select language and click "Let's go". Then connect to network. It will check the OS updates and install the updates.
  6. At the Chromebook Sign-in Screen, Press Alt + v on your keyboard to check Chrome OS version, press Ctrl + Alt + z to turn ChromeVox on to test speaker. and click "Browse as Guest".
  7. Press Ctrl + Alt + t on your keyboard to open the Crosh.
  8. In Crosh, while typing a command if you press Tab twice, it would list all available commands that starts with typed characters. And then type the following command to test:
      # Check battery health
      crosh> battery_test
      # Update battery_firmware
      crosh> battery_firmware update
      # Check system kernel and CPU information
      crosh> uname -a
      # Check RAM information
      crosh> free
      crosh> meminfo
      # Check Hard disk
      crosh> storage_test_1
      crosh> storage_test_2
    
  9. Go to Mictest page https://tiimmm.com/mictest/alltest.php to test keyboard, microphone, webcam, touchscreen.
  10. Go to chrome://system to check other informations, such as: cpuinfo, dmesg, uname, etc..
  11. If you want to check more things, go to chrome://chrome-urls to find URLs in the List of Chrome URLs.
  12. If the Chrome OS version is up to date, please use powerwash to reset chromebook to factory settings:
    1. Sign out of the Chromebook. At the bottom right, select the time. Select "Exit guest".
    2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
    3. Select "Restart".
    4. In the box that appears, select "Powerwash" "Continue".
  13. If the Chrome OS version isn't up to date, please use the latest Recovery USB flash drive to update it:
    1. If you have anything connected to the chromebook (such as a mouse or external hard drive), remove it.
    2. Press and hold Esc + Refresh , then press Power . Let go of Power .
    3. On some Chromebook models: Press and hold Esc + Maximize , then press Power . Let go of Power .
    4. When a message shows on the screen, let go of the other keys. And insert the Recovery USB flash drive into the chromebook.
    5. After the Recovery USB flash drive is inserted, the recovery process will start automatically. Please wait patiently.
    6. When you get a message that System recovery is complete, please unplug the Recovery USB flash drive, and the chromebook will restart automatically.
  14. Check current battery capacity. At the bottom right, select the time. Check current battery capacity and bluetooth.
  15. Shutdown the chromebook. At the bottom left, select the shutdown.
  16. Unplug the AC adapter, network cable, etc., the completed chromebook is waiting for scanning, cleaning, packaging and shipping.

  8. 在 Crosh 里,当你连续按两次 Tab 键时,会显示所有的可用命令,按一次则执行命令补全。然后输入以下命令进行测试:
      # 检查电池健康度
      crosh> battery_test
      # 升级电池固件
      crosh> battery_firmware update
      # 检查系统内核及CPU等
      crosh> uname -a
      # 检查内存信息
      crosh> free
      crosh> meminfo
      # 检查硬盘
      crosh> storage_test_1
      crosh> storage_test_2
    
  9. 前往 Mictest 页面 https://tiimmm.com/mictest/alltest.php 测试 keyboard, microphone, webcam, touchscreen.
  10. 前往 chrome://system 检查其它信息,例如: cpuinfo, dmesg, uname 等。
  11. 如果你想查看更多信息,前往 chrome://chrome-urls 并在 List of Chrome URLs 里查找网址。
  12. 如果你的chromebook操作系统版本是最新的,请用 powerwash 还原出厂设置:
    1. 登出 Chromebook. 在屏幕右下角, 选择时间,选择 "Exit guest".
    2. 点击并按住 Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r键。
    3. 选择 "Restart".
    4. 在新出现的界面里, 选择 "Powerwash" "Continue".
  13. 如果你的chromebook操作系统版本不是最新的, 请用最新的 Recovery USB flash drive 更新它:
